Mrs. Juliana Smichenko, PhDc 

Mrs. Juliana Smichenko is a PhD candidate under supervision of Prof. Anna Zisberg and Prof. Tamar Shochat at the Scheryl Spencer Department of Nursing, University of Haifa, Israel. She finished her master’s degree at the Department of Nursing, University of Haifa, Israel, under the supervision of Prof. Anna Zisberg: ‘The relationship between changes in sedative burden and hospital-associated cognitive decline among older adults admitted to internal-medical units’.

In the past several years, she has been academic assistant of Prof. Zisberg, and manager of multi-center study and other studies conducted in cooperation with hospitals in northern Israel (Bnei-Zion Medical Center, Carmel Medical center). She also was part of an international team of qualitative research conducted by University of New-York, USA: ‘Nurse perspectives of frontline patient management during the COVID-19 Pandemic’.

  • Sedative-hypnotics and anticholinergic medication consumption
  • Physical, cognitive, and other mental outcomes around hospitalization
  • Sleep trajectories around hospitalization
  • Teaching family and care givers around hospitalization
