Age Friendly University

The University of Haifa is proud to be the first Israeli university recognized as an age-friendly university!

In January 2024, the university joined to the Age-Friendly University Global Network, which consists of dozens of higher education institutions dedicated to creating an age-inclusive world and promoting positive aging. The initiative, led by Prof. Anna Zisberg, Dr. Orit Hirsch-Matsioulas, and Dr. Sigal Naim, along with a steering committee representing all faculties, reflects the university’s vision of shaping the social fabric and advancing social and environmental sustainability.

As a part of this commitment to age-friendliness, the university strives to enhance the well-being of seniors and foster their integration in the community through innovative educational programs, research initiatives, aging-focused curriculum development, distance learning, cultural activities (both on and off campus), and collaborations with civil society.
